Net Cost Over 7 Years
What this calculator doesn't know:
  • Diesel in Delhi NCR: Diesel cars over 10 years old are banned from Delhi NCR (NGT rule). If you'll keep the car past 10 years there, the effective resale value is near-zero.
  • EV depreciation is currently steeper than shown. The Indian used-EV market is thin; resale values can drop 30% in year one. If EV resale improves over your holding period, your EV TCO will be better than modeled.
  • Battery replacement math is binary. If you exceed the battery warranty window (typically 8 years or 1.6 lakh km), the model adds full replacement cost. In practice you'd likely sell before replacing.
  • Charging infrastructure is patchy on highways. This isn't a rupee cost — it's a convenience cost. Weigh it separately.
  • Fuel price inflation is assumed at 6%/year. Reality could be higher (crude spikes) or lower (EV adoption caps oil demand).
  • State-specific incentives: Some states waive road tax on EVs or offer subsidies (Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat). Model uses average on-road prices — adjust if your state offers meaningful subsidies.
Comparing more than a car? Buying a new car is one of the largest single expenses in a financial plan — let's fit it into the bigger picture alongside your investments, insurance, and goals.
